Arif Ashraf, Team Lead & Assistant Professor, Biology department, Howard University
Arif's lab mates and supervisors describe him as: "Arif always walks and talks around the lab. If he has airpods on, it does not mean he is ignoring you! He loves to listen heavy metal and audiobooks. He is the guy -- when you have questions, when you want to discuss, when your experiment fails!" And, everyone's best coffee/lunch/dinner buddy!

While studying Plant Science during my undergraduate at the University of Delaware, I developed a fondness for plant life and biological research. I’m excited to continue exploring these interests during my time in the Ashraf Lab! Outside of my schooling and career, I enjoy playing video games, drawing, looking at nature, and traveling with friends.

Hi Y'all! I'm from Raleigh, NC where I received my B.S. in Biology with a minor in Plant Biology from NC State University. When I'm not working passionately in the lab, you can find me curled up with a good book, laughing at a cheesy rom-com, or showing off my plant babies. I'm warm, inviting, curious, and extremely driven and I love to have a chat about anything especially what I'm working on in the lab. I have a passion for agriculture and educating others about the wonders of plants and all they can do!

I’m an ambitious, driven, and passionate individual, who wants to actively work toward a better, brighter, and healthier tomorrow. When I’m not in class, studying, or in the lab, I’m volunteering at the local food pantry, crocheting, reading—and occasionally, miles away from campus, indulging in some of my guilty pleasures(overpriced desert) with friends.
